Comment obtenir un permis de séjour grâce à la création d'une entreprise
Montenegro offers one of the most accessible paths to European residency through company formation. By establishing a local business entity, foreign nationals can obtain a temporary residence and work permit, valid for one year and renewable annually. This program has become the preferred option for freelancers, consultants, and international business owners.
Step 1: Incorporating Your Montenegrin Company
The foundation of your residency application is incorporating a Limited Liability Company (D.O.O.).
- Requirements: You need a unique company name, a valid passport, and a designated registered office address (which we can provide).
- Capital: The minimum required share capital is only €1.
- Duration: The registration process at the Central Registry of Business Entities (CRPS) in Podgorica takes between 5 and 7 business days.
Step 2: Preparing Your Residency Application
Once the company is officially registered and you have obtained your corporate stamp and tax identification number (PIB), you can gather the required personal documents:
- Background Check: A certified police clearance certificate from your home country, issued within the last six months, with an apostille if required.
- Education Certificate: Your highest degree or high school diploma must be officially nostrificated (validated) by the Montenegrin Ministry of Education.
- Health Certificate: A medical exam conducted at a local Montenegrin clinic (costs around €30-€40).
- Proof of Accommodation: A registered rental contract or proof of property ownership in Montenegro.
Step 3: Submitting the Application
The application is submitted in person at the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) office in the municipality where your company is registered.
- Process: The authorities will capture your biometric data (fingerprints and photo).
- Processing Time: The MUP is legally required to process the application within 20 to 30 days. During this period, you will receive a confirmation slip allowing you to remain in the country legally.
Benefits of Company Residency
Obtaining residency through company formation provides several key advantages:
- No Minimum Revenue: The local company is not required to generate a specific volume of revenue or hire local employees to maintain the director’s residency.
- Family Reunification: Once the primary applicant’s residency card is issued, spouse and children under 18 can immediately apply for residency under the family reunification program.
- Path to Permanent Status: After maintaining continuous temporary residency for 5 years, you become eligible to apply for permanent residence in Montenegro.
